A Reno man was killed, and three others suffered injuries, Friday morning when two vehicles collided head-on east of Highway 395 on County Road A-26.
According to details from the California Highway Patrol’s Susanville Office, on February 28th, shortly before 4:30 in the morning, an 44-year-old Reno resident, whose name is being withheld, was driving a 2019 Toyota southbound on County Road A-26.
At the same time 37-year-old Reno resident Miguel Gonzalez Jr. was driving a 2016 Volkswagen, with two passengers, northbound on County Road A-26.
“For reasons still under investigation, the vehicles collided head-on,” explains CHP Officer Brian Elledge.
“As a result of this crash, the driver of [the Toyota] sustained fatal injuries. The male passenger of [the Volkswagen] sustained major injuries and was transported to Renown Medical Center.”
The 34-year-old female passenger in the Volkswagen sustained major injuries and was life-flighted to Renown.
The driver of the Volksagen suffered minor injuries.
The roadway was closed approximately four hours for emergency response and recovery of vehicles.
