CHP Incident: Westwood Pedestrian Suffers Major Injuries After Being Struck by Car

A 22-year old Westwood man suffered major injuries after being struck by a car near the Dollar General store in Westwood Sunday according to details from the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol.

Jonathan Schneider was walking eastbound on 3rd Street at around 9:00a.m., headed towards Dollar General, after running from his home.

A woman identified by the CHP as 49-year old Westwood resident Eliz Shoukry, the man’s mother, was driving her 2020 Toyota Corolla in an attempt to stop her son and take him home.

“In an attempt to prevent Schneider from walking to Dollar General,” said the report, “she turned her car in front of Schneider’s path, accidentally striking Schneider in the right leg.”
