The California Highway Patrol has released details of a February 24th accident which sent six people to Renown Medical Center in Reno with moderate to major injuries.
According to the CHP report 27 year-old Herlong resident Lupe Aragon was driving her 2002 Ford Taurus westbound on County Road A-26 at 45mph and was approaching the intersection with US 395, while at the same time Doyle resident Ryan Murphy was driving his 1992 Ford F-150 northbound, also approaching the intersection.
The Highway Patrol says that for unknown reasons Aragon failed to bring her vehicle to a complete stop for the posted stop sign and painted white limit line. The vehicles entered the intersection at nearly the same time.
The right-front of the F-150 was struck by the left-front of the Taurus. The Taurus rotated clockwise and came to rest on its wheels on the northbound shoulder of US 395.
The F-150 rotated counter-clockwise and ran off of the west roadway edge of US-395, where it rolled on its right side.
All drivers and passengers of each vehicle were transported to Renown Medical Center for medical treatment. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
