CHP Reports Minor Injuries in Monday Wreck

A Herlong man received minor injuries early Monday morning in an accident south of Scott Road on Highway 395.

According to the California Highway Patrol 27 year-old Luke Halmas was driving his Ford Explorer southbound on the roadway which was coated with approximately 1/2 inch of snow and ice.

Halmas, who the CHP reports was traveling at an unsafe speed for the slippery road conditions, lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle ran over a paddle marker as it spun sideways and continued out of control down the embankment and overturned.

The Ford Explorer rolled numerous times and finally came to rest upside down in the field west of US-395. The driver was located by a passerby when he crawled from the vehicle and back up to the road. As a precaution the driver was transported by helicopter to Renown Medical center for treatment of his injuries .
