CHP Sees Results from 395 Corridor Enhanced Enforcement Campaign

Beginning at 6:00a.m., on November 17th, Officers from the California Highway Patrol spent their day targeting unsafe drivers on Highway 395 as part of a campaign to educate and enforce traffic laws along the 395 corridor. In just twelve hours the campaign produced nearly fifty citations for drivers on the highway, most of whom were cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

“During that time, CHP – Northern Division focused enforcement on the US-395 corridor in Modoc, Lassen, and Sierra counties, which includes the Alturas, Susanville, and Quincy Area Offices, and Northern Division Commercial Enforcement Unit,” explains CHP Public Information Officer Bruce Thuelchassaigne.

“A total of 42 citations were issued, of which 40 were for unsafe speed. The area offices also reported issuing 24 verbal or written warnings and one arrest.”

Although this enhanced enforcement detail concluded Wednesday evening at 6:00, the CHP said that it will conduct additional enhanced enforcement details along the US-395 corridor at various times and locations throughout the year.

“The public should continue to practice safe driving habits anytime they get behind the wheel.”

The CHP is reminding motorists to follow some basic traffic safety rules: always wear a seat belt, drive at a speed safe for conditions, eliminate distractions while driving and always designate a sober driver.
