Susanville City Attorney Jessica Keeney has released details of the agreement reached between the city and outgoing City Administrator Jared Hancock, who has helmed the day-to-day operation of the town since July of 2012.
“Mr. Hancock’s position as City Administrator for City of Susanville ends on October 11th, 2017. This is a mutual separation between Mr. Hancock and the City of Susanville.”
According to Keeney, Hancock will receive a cash payment of $125,000 from the City of Susanville and payment for his accrued vacation time as of October 11th, 2017.
“This cash payment is full and final payment for all wage and benefit obligations the City of Susanville owes Mr. Hancock including the severance pay outlined in the employment contract of Mr. Hancock,” explains Keeney. “Mr. Hancock waives any right to unemployment benefits.”
The separation agreement states that for the remainder of his employment as City Administrator, Mr. Hancock may provide up to 12-hours of independent consulting services to entities other than the City of Susanville. The City Attorney will provide conflict review of these consulting services.
Keeney also explained that the City of Susanville and Mr. Hancock will enter into a post-separation consulting agreement so that the city may use the consulting services of Mr. Hancock on an as-needed basis. Mr. Hancock will be an independent contractor under that agreement.
No announcement was made concerning Hancock’s replacement, or a time-frame for that announcement to be made.
