Twenty new signs inviting Susanville residents to call and anonymously report crimes have been installed around town thanks to a partnership between Lassen Crime Stoppers, The City of Susanville’s Street Department and the Susanville Police Department.
“We had twenty signs made and they were paid for by the city and us,” explains Crime Stoppers’ Secretary, Probation Chief Jen Branning. “WFP did a great job on the signs so they will last, and they even measured the neighborhood watch signs to make sure we would meet the city code for signs.”
Crime Stoppers’ President Calli Oxford worked closely with Public Safety Chief Michael Bengoa-Bollinger to identify strategic locations for the signs which offer a cash reward for anonymous tips abouts crimes.
The signs also feature the group’s slogan, “Crime Doesn’t Pay… But We Do!”
The organization has been around since 2016 and has been responsible for numerous arrests generated from phone and social media tips. This year alone Crime Stoppers’ tipsters have been responsible for eleven arrests and nearly $1,500 in rewards have been paid out.
Lassen Crime Stoppers has also recently offered large rewards for special cases including the theft of Humane Society donations from Grocery Outlet.
To report information about a crime you can anonymously call a simple telephone number, (530) 502-TIPS, and if that information pays off for local law enforcement you will be paid up to $1,000 in cash.
