Come join Lassen County 4-H Ambassadors Lily Ammon and Maddi Johnson on May 15th, for their final Family Fun Night in Jensen Hall at the Lassen County Fairgrounds. More than 160 people showed up for the last Bingo Night, raising funds for the Blue Star Moms and the final event is set to benefit the Lassen County 4-H Program. The cost is $5 per book, 5 rounds per book and there is no book limit. Only 200 players will be allowed to participate. The event will start at 6:00p.m.

This course is for students considering careers in information technology. This course will use multiple learning formats to acquire foundational concepts, knowledge and skills. This is an introduction to basic IT knowledge and skills to help you decide if a career in IT is right for you. To register for this class please call Zeane Barber at 530.257.2703.

The LGBTQ+ parent support group is safe confidential space where members can vent and feel understood on a peer-to-peer level regarding personal topics. Thursday, May 18
New Postpartum Support Group will meet on the third Thursday of the month at 10:30a.m., at Memorial Park. An opportunity for moms to connect with other moms. Anyone who is growing, or raising a child is welcome. This group is a way for new moms to meet, share their experiences, be heard, connect, build friendships, and know that they are not alone. Local resources will be provided, and guest speakers will be asked to participate. There will be information available on self-care, nutrition, breastfeeding, sleep, relaxation, baby care, communication, emotional well-being, relationships, mommy and me activities, parenting, and postpartum depression. Lassen Sportsmen’s Club Junior Fishing Derby 5:00am – 3:00 p.m., Memorial Park
1200 North St, Susanville. One of Susanville’s best-loved traditions, the annual Lassen Sportsmen’s Club Junior Fishing Derby is scheduled to be held on May 20th. Kids aged 2 to 15 are invited to come enjoy a beautiful morning of fishing. The busy morning starts at 5:00 with free registration and check-in at the park. Don’t forget to dress warmly because mornings are still chilly along the river this time of year. Registration and check-in end at 9:00a.m. Derby prizes will be awarded after the 3:00p.m. close of the event, and winners don’t need to be present to win. Kids shooting for the ‘largest fish’ prizes should be off the river by 2:45p.m. and must be in line for weigh-in by 3:00p.m to qualify. Door prizes will be drawn at the same time and these winners must be present. The first three-hundred young anglers to register will receive a souvenir derby hat courtesy of Guess Plumbing. From 5:30 to 8:30a.m. free breakfast for all kids, sponsored by Walmart and the employees of Walmart. From 10:30 to 1:00p.m., free lunch will be provided for all kids, Adults may have breakfast or lunch for a donation of $2.00.

Farm Bureau Classic Golf Tournament 9:00 – 12:00 p.m., Diamond Mountain Golf Course
All proceeds to benefit local youth scholarships, 4H, FFA projects. $400 per four-man team. $200 Hole Sponsorship. You can sign up at the clubhouse or call Naomi at 530.310.3496.

Saturday, May 20
CASA Volunteer Appreciation Gala Night 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Lassen Senior Services 1700 Sunkist Drive, Susanville. Proceeds from this fundraiser dinner benefit the CASA program and the children we have the honor of serving. Tickets are $40 for dinner and a silent auction. Tickets are available at Margie’s Book Nook and Zaengle’s.

Susanville Church of the Nazarene Knitting and Crochet Group: Chicks with Sticks 10:00 – 11:00a.m., at Safeway Starbucks. This group is for anyone in the community who would like to join. On Mother’s Day, 5/14, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is hosting a Mother’s day Tea starting at 11:30 at 105 Ash St. Susanville. The Tea Party will follow church services at 10:00 a.m. There is no charge, but there will be plenty of time for sharing and enjoying tea and assorted finger foods. Everyone is invited and it is free. Please come and join us this Mother’s Day to rejoice and give thanks!
