As cooler temperatures mark the changes in seasons, families are digging out their winter gear so they can bundle up against the cold.We live in a beautiful place with wonderful seasons, but during winter there are months at a time when you can’t venture outside without a coat or jacket. But what if you didn’t have a coat to wear?
For some, the winter season brings additional hardship when they cannot afford the warmer clothes needed to survive. Banner Lassen Medical Center is asking the community to clean out the extras in their closets and bring donations to its annual Winter Coat Drive.
“This is a great opportunity for community members to not only declutter their closets, but to help those who really need it,” said Robin Merritt, the event’s organizer. “As your kids outgrow last year’s gear, please consider sharing it with another family.”
Banner Lassen will collect coats in its Shasta Room 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 and 1-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9. For every coat you donate you will be entered into a drawing for a winter survival gift basket. All collected coats will be donated to Lassen Family Services for distribution to those in need.
