Community Town Hall: Tackling Tobacco Use in Lassen County

The Lassen County Tobacco Use Prevention Program is calling on community members to take a stand against the rising impact of tobacco and nicotine in our area. They invite you to join them for an important Community Town Hall on April 30th, from 5:30 to 8:00p.m., in Susanville.

The event will be hosted as a community dinner and conversation, and while the program is currently finalizing the location, they will share those venue details as soon as they are confirmed.

Addressing this issue is more urgent than ever, as Lassen County currently faces the highest tobacco use rate in California. This statistic represents a significant challenge that directly impacts the health and well-being of local youth and families.

During this Town Hall, organizers will pull back the curtain on how tobacco companies intentionally target young people and other vulnerable populations, providing attendees with the information needed to recognize and resist these marketing tactics.

The event will feature guest speakers from the California Youth Advocacy Network, alongside local leaders who are deeply committed to improving the community’s health. Organizers encourage everyone to attend, learn and help spread awareness throughout the region.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please reach out to the Lassen County Public Health team. You can contact Heather Bennett Abdelwahab at 1.530.251.8196 or Christine Johnson at 1.530.251.8183.
