The Susanville Symphony’s 22nd season kicks off this Saturday, September 27th, with the always-awesome outdoor Concert on the Green on the lawn at the historic courthouse! The first concert of the season is one of the most unique outdoor performances you will ever experience, and we have tickets to giveaway.

“We kick off the season with Rockin’ in the Mountains, the annual outdoor concert at the old courthouse lawn,” explains Symphony Artistic Director and Conductor Ben Wade.

Playing on the steps of Lassen County’s 105-year-old, historic Courthouse, will be special guest artist Ben Katzman, who Wade notes made the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine this past March, and plays and sings lead in his own band the Degreasers, will be “shredding guitar to open the season.”

The show, on the steps of the historic Lassen County Courthouse, is always awesome.

“I was connected with Katzman thru past Survivor alumni,” Wade explained, referring to CBS’s Survivor reality show, which he has appeared on several seasons, “and I couldn’t wait to bring his energy and enthusiasm and technique to Susanville. This is the perfect concert to do it.”

Katzman, whose band just opened for Def Leppard at Woodstock 2025, will step off his current U.S. tour and come to Susanville for the weekend to join local musicians on the courthouse steps in what has become one of the Symphony’s most popular annual concerts.

Several of the Symphony’s local musicians will be featured during the performance, including Derrick Noah, Kayla Millar, Craig Harris, Heather Blevins and J.R. Johnston.

The concert will begin at 5:00p.m. and tickets are $35 each. You can purchase tickets online by following this link and at Margie’s Book Nook in uptown Susanville.
