Congressman Doug LaMalfa issued the following statement after hosting Isabella McMurray, winner of this year’s Congressional High School Art Competition representing California’s 1st Congressional District.
Her piece, titled “I am Columbia” will be displayed in the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. for one year. Isabella attends Inspire School of Arts and Sciences in Chico, California.
LaMalfa said: “My favorite part of the annual art competition is inviting the winning artist to Washington so that they have the opportunity to visit their artwork while it’s on display in the U.S. Capitol. Isabella is a very talented artist and her artwork ‘I am Columbia’ will remind me and everyone who walks through the Capitol every day just how strong our country is. I’m very happy Isabella has used her talents to represent the values of Northern California.”
