As of 6:00 this morning all road closures and traffic control points have been lifted.
Mandatory Evacuations were downgraded to Advisory Tuesday evening at 6:00 for Gold Run and Hidden Hills Drive as well as the Cheney Creek Drainage East of Devils Corral. All other Evacuation Advisories will remain in effect.
Good morning everybody, here is your Wednesday morning update on the Willard Fire burning southwest of Susanville.
According to Cal-Fire spokesperson Stacey Nolan crews continued to make good progress last night strengthening containment lines.
The fire growth has diminished. Fire suppression repair has begun in an effort to minimize the effects of the fire’s damage. A Damage Inspection Team continues to survey the fire area to assess the extent of damage.
Residents are asked to use caution when driving in the fire area, as personnel are still actively working in the fire
Structures lost in the Willard Fire
Cal-Fire has reported that two residences and four other structures were burned in the wildfire that began near Roxie Peconum campground late Sunday morning.
Details about the location of the two residences, and the extent of damages, were not available this morning.
“We greatly appreciate the public wanting to assist the home owners,” said Nolan. “We have made contact with the residents and they are not seeking any assistance for anything at this time. If anyone is interested to still assisting they can contact the local Red Cross chapter.”
Injuries
One injury has been reported as the result of the fire, but no other details are available at this time.

As of 7:00a.m. today the Willard Fire is estimated to have burned 2,527 acres and is 60% contained. Full containment is expected next Monday, September 19th.
