The Lassen County Office of Education, at the invitation of Lassen High Superintendent Jacob Jensen, is conducting a needs assessment at the high school. This effort is part of ongoing work to support continuous improvement in schools.
As a result, LCOE staff will be visiting the high school campus, observing its operations and meeting with staff members.
“This assessment is a standard process within the California Statewide System of Support, a framework designed to provide schools and districts with tools, resources, and strategies to enhance educational opportunities for students,” explains LCOE Communications Specialist Kaitlyn Midgely.
The framework, supported by the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence, the California Department of Education and the State Board of Education, aims to:
- Increase equity and access for all students.
- Encourage collaboration and coordination among schools, districts, and support agencies.
- Provide expertise, programs, and resources tailored to meet the unique needs of local schools.
Through this system, county offices like LCOE serve as Lead Agencies, leveraging state and regional resources to address the specific needs of local educational agencies at universal, targeted, and intensive levels.
Superintendent Jensen emphasized the importance of this process, “This needs assessment is an opportunity to identify strengths and areas for growth at Lassen High School, ensuring our students have the support they need to succeed.”
