Crandall Singleton Heads to Rotary Regional After Winning Local Music Contests

Four talented young musicians competed April 1st, in Susanville Sunrise Rotary Club’s Annual Youth Music Contest for solo instrumentalists at United Methodist Church in uptown Susanville.

This year, because of scheduling conflicts, both the local Rotary contest and the Area contest, originally scheduled for April 8th, were held on the same night.

First place in the local competition went to Crandall Singleton who played a piano piece that he composed. Juliette Singleton took 2nd place and Briella Robbins took 3rd – both played the piano.

The fourth local contestant, Ryan Sackett played the guitar solo from the Lynyrd Skynyrd song Freebird.

After winning the local contest Singleton then repeated his performance for the Area contest, competing against Chester resident Jackson Benny who played a piano number.

Both performers gave great performances with Singleton narrowly winning and earning the chance to represent our area at the District 5190 Competition. (photos by Patti Gunderson)
