Daffodils from Monticola Project Spring to Life

In October, members of Susanville’s Monticola Club put on their work gloves and spent a morning in the little triangle below the Elks Lodge, at the top of Main Street, planting daffodils. The hard work has paid off now, the flowers have bloomed and are a lovely addition to the head of town.

The daffodil planting was done in coordination with Susanville Public Works and the Lassen County Chamber of Commerce’s Hometown Pride campaign.

Monticola was founded in 1912 and members have focused on a variety of community service projects including food baskets, water for river clean-up, fire victim support, senior support, beautification projects – trees, flowers, Penny Pines reforestation, library support and college scholarships.
