Daniel Paul Rice
Daniel “Danny” “Dan” Paul Rice, son of Frank Rice and Willa Dewitt; lost his 4-year battle with cancer on January 20th, 2022.
Dan was proud to be a lifelong resident of Lassen County. While growing up in Susanville Dan raised hell in his youth, made fast friends with law enforcement, worked at Jackson’s Service Center, worked as a firefighter, and retired as a heavy equipment operator after 27 years at Cal-Trans.
Dan’s favorite hobby was to drive around the County taking pictures of the high desert landscapes and wildlife; he was never without a camera. Dan’s other passion was waitresses. He successfully married and successfully divorced two of them. Dan’s failed marriages produced his greatest accomplishments…his children: Danielle Paulette, William Joseph (Reesa), and Clyde Joseph.
Dan was hugely proud of his children and extremely honored to become a “Papa” to his subsequent grandchildren: Yvonne, Quentin, Seann, Wyatt, and Iris. After retirement, Dan began following politics and became an avid Trump supporter. His final wishes were, “To make sure I don’t vote Democrat in any upcoming elections.” Graveside services will be held on February 20th, 2:00p.m., at Diamond Crest Cemetery.
