Deadline to File for District One Supervisor’s Race Extended

Lassen County’s election chief Julie Bustamante announced Friday that the deadline to file a Declaration of Candidacy for the county’s District One supervisorial race has been extended until December 13th, after the incumbent, Supervisor Chris Gallagher, failed to file by the December 8th deadline.

The deadline to file is now set for Wednesday, December 13th, at 5:00p.m.

“Any person, other than the incumbent, wishing to file can do so at the County Clerk’s Election office in the Annex behind the Historic Courthouse at 220 S. Lassen Street,” explains Bustamante.

More information is available by calling 1.530.251.8217.

To be eligible for the Supervisors’ District 1 seat, candidates must be a registered voter and otherwise qualified to vote for that office at the time nomination papers are issued.

They must also reside in the district during term of office.

Each member shall have been a registered voter of the district which they seek to represent for at least 30-days immediately preceding the deadline for filing nomination documents for the office of supervisor, and shall reside in the district during their incumbency.

The four-year term of office begins January 6th, 2025. There is a Candidate Filing Fee of $410.55 and an optional Candidates Statement of Qualifications for $375.
