Lassen Senior Services’ big annual fundraising BBQ competition is this weekend and the deadline is today for young grillmasters to participate in a new feature this year, a Kid’s Que for burgeoning cooks between the ages of 6 and 15 years old.
Originally scheduled for Saturday, the Kid’s Que will now be held from 4:00 to 5:00p.m. on August 16th with 6 to 10-year olds cooking hamburgers and 11 to 15-year olds grilling up steaks.
“We learned that there were children that wanted to participate but were not going to be able to because of out of town sports,” event organizers explained on Facebook, “so we made the change to allow all children to participate.”
Cost to enter is free and there are only openings for 20 kids. You can email Alan Dowdy at [email protected] to get an application.
The deadline to enter is today, August 12th, at 3:00p.m.
The event, which is sponsored by Sierra Desert Properties, is part of LSS’s annual cookoff, which is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society.
