Demolition and cleanup of the fire-damaged St. Francis Hotel, located at 830 Main Street, will begin this week. The historic hotel was destroyed by a fire in the early morning hours of November 1st, 2024.
According to the City of Susanville, a contractor, under the direction of a court-appointed Receiver, will be removing fire debris and strategically demolishing the remaining structure over the next several weeks.
Drivers and residents should be aware of the following traffic impacts for the duration of the project:
- Union Street, between Main Street and South Alley, will be closed.
- The number two lane of eastbound Main Street, adjacent to the hotel property, may also be closed as work progresses toward the front of the building.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down and use caution when traveling through this area.
