The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office is releasing details surrounding a Wednesday evening armed robbery attempt at the Shell gas station in Doyle.
According to Sheriff’s Captain Matt McFarland at around 9:00p.m. an unknown adult male subject entered the gas station, walked up behind an employee while she was working and demanded money. The would-be thief was described as wearing a face mask, a hat and was armed with a black handgun.
The intruder demanded that the employee open the cash register or he would shoot her. When she refused the subject attempted to open it himself. While he was trying to break into the register another vehicle pulled into the parking lot prompting him to flee on foot.
Sheriff’s Office personnel, assisted by other agencies, searched the area but did not locate the subject. Video footage of the scene is being reviewed by the LCSO in an attempt to gather more evidence.
