Lassen National Forest’s Eagle Lake Ranger District must limit the hours during which personal use firewood permits will be sold during the week of August 17th.
Firewood permits will be sold at Eagle Lake Ranger District only from 8:00a.m. through 10:00a.m. and 2:00p.m. through 4:30p.m. during the week of August 17th through 21st.
“Providing fire support has left us short-staffed at Eagle Lake,” said District Ranger Matt Boisseau. “Honestly, I’m surprised we haven’t had to do this earlier, given that two-thirds of our frontline staff has been gone for most of the summer. It’s a testament to our ability to perform as a team that we’ve been able to manage this long.”
Firewood permits are $10 per cord and are sold with a map of the forest and firewood cutting regulations. Multiple permits may be purchased up to a ten-cord limit per household with a minimum purchase of two cords per permit. Permits are for noncommercial, personal use only and can also be purchased at the Almanor Ranger District in Chester.
