A traffic collision on Us 395 early Thursday morning sent a Janesville man to Banner Lassen Medical Center with moderate injuries and blocked the highway for a short time according to details released this morning by the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred at around 5:30a.m. when , according to the CHP report, 29 year-old Janesville resident Christopher Edgerton was driving his 2002 Nissan on Lassen County Road A-3 and was stopped at the intersection with US 395.
At the same time 62 year-old Reno resident Jeffrey Key was driving his 1999 Mazda on on the highway at a speed of approximately 65 miles per hour, approaching the intersection. As Key neared the intersection, Edgerton reportedly entered the intersection attempting to make a left turn.
Key observed the Nissan enter the intersection and attempted to take evasive action but was unable to avoid colliding with the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Key was uninjured as a result of the collision, Edgerton was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center for moderate injuries.
Traffic was diverted around the collision onto Lake Crest Road for a short period of time.
