An early morning fire at Spalding Tract on Eagle Lake destroyed a garage and sent one person to the hospital with smoke-related injuries according to Office of Emergency Services Chief Eric Ewing.

Crews from Cal-Fire, Spalding and Stones-Bengard fire protection districts were called out at around 5:30a.m. Wednesday morning on a report that a structure on Sycamore Street in Spalding was on fire. Arriving firefighters found a garage of a residence in flames, but managed to keep the fire from damaging the residence itself.

Ewing said one person suffered smoke inhalation injuries and was treated and released at the scene.

Apparatus on scene included 4 engines and one water tender.
