Edward Allen Fulenwider – March 3, 2022

Edward Allen Fulenwider

Edward Allen Fulenwider was born on November 16th, 1923 to Harry and Mabel Fulenwider, in Howe, Oklahoma. He went to spend eternity with Jesus on March 3rd, 2022, at the age of 98.

He grew up in Howe, Oklahoma and Excelsior, Arkansas, during the Depression. His father was a coal miner.

He was a WWII veteran, entering into the Army Air Corps (what is now the Air Force) in April 1943 and serving until April 1946. He was stationed in California until his deployment to the China Burma India Campaign, with the 47th Air Depot Group in Ondal, India. He was an airplane mechanic, repairing planes flying ”Over the Hump” into, and out of, China. He was very proud of his military service and loved the United States of America.

While stationed in California, he met Helen Owens. After he returned home from the war, they were married on Sept. 14, 1946. They lived in Turlock, CA, where he worked at a nursery, grafting trees. There, they had their first child, Ilene in 1950. Shortly after that, they moved to Herlong, CA where he worked at Sierra Army Depot. They had three more children, David, Karl, and Marlaine. He helped build Honey Lake Baptist Church in Herlong, where he was a Deacon.

In May 1958, they bought a house in Janesville, CA, on what is now Main Street. At that time, it was US Hwy 395. They raised their family in that home. He owned that home until his death.

He, and Helen, were very active in all the school, 4H, and community events during that time. He was a Deacon in the Log Cabin Church in Janesville. He was active in the Janesville Masonic Lodge, and then the Susanville Masonic Lodge, and the Janesville Grange. He was very much a family man and supported his kids in all their sports, school, and other activities. He loved hunting, fishing, having fun, cutting firewood, and hard work. He was, all the way up to his death, quite a jokester and prankster.

He loved the Lord as his Savior, and is finally resting with Jesus.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Helen, his brother Clarence, and sister Doris, Son-in-law Mitch, and Son-in-law Bob. He is survived by daughter Ilene, son David (Dawn), son Karl (Debra), and daughter Marlaine. Also 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
