Edward Clyde Standard
October 21, 1930 – December 15, 2021
Edward “Eddie” Clyde Standard was born October 21, 1930, in Susanville, CA to Edward Franklin Standard and Hazel Mae (Shearin) Manville Standard.
After graduation from Lassen High School, Eddie enlisted in the US Marine Corps, following the footsteps of his elder brother. Following his term of service, he returned to Susanville. Eddie lived with and cared for his parents through their lifespans. He worked in lumber mills as a heavy equipment operator specializing in extra-large cranes. He worked in Susanville, CA for Fruit Growers Lumber and Sierra Pacific Industries.
Eddie never married and was the ultimate playful uncle to his 10 nieces and nephews. He enjoyed classic cars that he bought and restored, among them a Jaguar and a
cherry red Corvette. He was a Nascar fan and watched races faithfully. He followed both the San Francisco 49s and the San Francisco Giants through decades of seasons.
Eddie’s well-manicured and landscaped yard was notable and admired by all who passed his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother and four sisters. He loved and cared for cats most of his life, usually having at least two as house pets.
To honor this attachment, memorial donations may be made to the Lassen County Humane Society.
