Enjoy Lassen National Forest on Snowshoes or Cross-Country Skis!

Lassen National Forest’s Almanor Ranger District will offer its annual guided snowshoe and cross-country ski tours this winter for the general public and school groups. Trip leaders will address a variety of topics during the one- to two-hour programs, such as basic winter survival skills, environmental education, and local history.

The first two events are scheduled for Friday, January 8th and Friday, January 22nd. Tour destinations, which will vary depending on current snow conditions, include Morgan Summit, Locherman Canyon, Almanor Recreation Trail, McGowan Cross-Country Ski Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail.

“This is a great way to explore Lassen National Forest and enjoy the winter season,” said Almanor District Acting Recreation Officer Stacy Kronner. “The tours are geared for beginners but can be strenuous in deep snow or fresh powder.”

All programs require reservations. Participants must be at least eight years old, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Snowshoes are provided free of charge, but cross-country skiers must provide their own equipment.

For more Information or to register, contact Stacy Kronner at (530) 258-2141 or [email protected].
