A two-day Wildland Firefighting Career Exploration event is planned for January 8th and 9th, at the Business and Career Network, 1616 Chestnut Street, in Susanville.
- The Forest Service and Cal-Fire are seeking Temporary Wildland Firefighters and Support Staff positions.
- Jobs are open to U.S. Citizens, 18 years or older
- Wildland firefighters can be members of an engine crew, hotshot crew, helicopter crew, or an organized hand crew. Crews often travel to other states in support of fire management throughout the United States.
- Numerous positions nationwide. Recruitment questions can be answered on-site.
- Positions last approximately 6 months and begin in the spring.
- Salaries vary depending on agency, position, location and applicant’s experience. Locations are based in the Susanville, Chester, Fall River Mills, Big Valley and Alturas areas.

- Tuesday, January 8, 9am – 12pm or 1pm – 4pm
- Wednesday, January 9, 9am – 12pm or 1pm – 4pm
CalFire and U.S. Forest Service personnel will discuss fire and other career opportunities, as well as answer questions about what it takes to join the firefighting teams. The on-line application process will be explained at each session and all interested persons are encouraged to apply.
