The extended candidate filing period for the upcoming General Election ends today with a whole slate of elected positions still open for potential candidates. The deadline for any eligible person, other than the incumbent, to file a Declaration of Candidacy for the November 5th election is today, August 14th at the close of the business day.
This extended deadline is not applicable where there is no incumbent to be elected.
According to Lassen County Clerk-Recorder Julie Bustamante, eligible candidates must be a registered voter and otherwise qualified to vote for that office at the time nomination papers are issued and shall reside in the District during his or her incumbency.
Any person, other than the incumbent, wishing to file can do so at the Lassen County Clerk’s office located behind the Historic Courthouse at 220 South Lassen Street.
