Fair Manager Bill Payer and the Lassen County Fairgrounds are rolling out the red, white and blue for a massive two-day Independence Day celebration in honor of the United States’ landmark 250th birthday. Community members and visitors are invited to gather for two full days of family-friendly activities, delicious food, live entertainment and spectacular fireworks at the fairgrounds.
The festivities kick off Friday afternoon, July 3rd, at 3:00, with racing, great local food vendors and family-friendly games. Families can participate in scarecrow building and a variety of kid-approved lawn activities or cool off with bounce houses and water slides provided by Elevated Party Rentals.
At 5:00p.m., the Lassen County Baggers will host an exciting cornhole tournament.
To top off Friday’s opening night, a grand fireworks display will light up the sky above the grandstands at dark, around 9:30, immediately following the conclusion of the evening’s races. The fireworks are sponsored in part by the Lassen Child and Family Resources Local Planning Council, the Lassen County Fair Preservation Society and the Lassen County Fair.
The celebration keeps rolling Saturday, July 4th, at 3:00p.m. with another round of exciting races, interactive activities and great food. The bounce houses, water slides, lawn activities, and family scarecrow building will all be back for a second day of fun.
As the sun sets Saturday, the band Rummy will take the stage, delivering a live musical performance at approximately 9:00p.m. immediately following the races, to celebrate freedom in style.
Throughout both days, attendees can enjoy a fantastic lineup of food and treats from a wide variety of vendors. Options include classic Rotary Corn Dogs, Firehouse Grill favorites, pizza, funnel cakes, Kettle Corn, Sno Mountain and Dippin’ Dots.
Bring your lawn chairs, gather your friends and family. Admission to the fairgrounds for the community event is free both days.
General admission to the races is $15, tickets for seniors and kids between the ages of 5 and 17 are $10 and veterans and kids under 5 get in for free.
