The Susanville Symphony’s final performance of the 2022-2023 season happens tomorrow, May 13th, and promises to be a spectacular conclusion to another year of great concerts, this time featuring the music of truly legendary composer John Williams.
“Pick a few of your favorite movies, any movie, and the likelihood of one of those movie soundtracks being written by John Williams is almost certain,” explains Conductor and Artistic Director Ben Wade.
“From the exotic faraway melody of Memoirs of a Geisha that takes us back to turn of the century Japan, to the opening trumpet salvo of the Indiana Jones theme, his music connects us emotionally to the film screen more than the lines the actors recite.”
He points to the ominous two-note figure that opens the movie Jaws, a John Williams composition.
“You can just feel, and hear, the shark coming,” says Wade.
You’ll get chills as the symphony plays the thundering minor triplets from Vader’s theme and the Imperial March.
Not only is this the final concert of the 19th season, but it means it’s time to buy your season passes for next year. Twenty years! That is just awesome.
According to Wade season twenty will see many surprises, and he assured fans that the Red Violin will be returning to Susanville.
There will be a raffle for those who return their season membership cards tomorrow evening.
