In a partnership with CalFIRE and California Climate Investments, the Lassen Fire Safe Council is officially rolling out a new defensible space program to bolster wildfire resiliency across Lassen County. This initiative is designed to provide residents with the tools and physical assistance necessary to protect their homes and neighborhoods from the threat of wildfire.
The program offers a comprehensive suite of services beginning with no-cost property assessments and essential homeowner education.
For residents who qualify, the council also provides direct treatment of properties to ensure they meet defensible space standards. This assistance is specifically dedicated to vulnerable members of our community throughout Lassen County, including those living in low-income or disadvantaged areas, as well as seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
Funding for this critical safety project is provided by a grant from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as part of the California Climate Investments Program, which directs Cap-and-Trade dollars toward local projects that improve public safety and environmental health.
If you or someone you know is interested in participating in this no-cost program, there are several ways to get started. You can sign up online by following this link or by stopping by the LFSC office in person at 1825 Main Street in Susanville.
