In preparation for seasonal closings, the Almanor North boat ramp will be pulled from the water on Thursday, October 18th.
The dock will be returned to the water next April (weather dependent), when water levels and weather make it safe to do so.
The dock at the Almanor North boat ramp is not designed to withstand the winter conditions that occur on the lake.
Canyon Dam boat launch facilities on the southwest shore of Lake Almanor will remain open for public use throughout the year.
Almanor District Recreation Officer Stacy Kronner reminds the public that, “many National Forest boat launch facilities charge for use, but Canyon Dam is free of charge to the public.”
Canyon Dam also has a day use facilities including picnic tables, barbeques and vault toilets.
The Lassen National Forest would like to remind the public that all Almanor Ranger District campgrounds are closed for the season.
In the Almanor Basin, the Almanor Picnic area remains open year round. Outside of the Basin, the Jonesville and Morgan Summit snowmobile areas are open with restroom and trash services.
