Forest Service Burning Landing Piles West of Logan Mountain

The Eagle Lake Ranger District of the Lassen National Forest is burning landing piles on the Cowbell thinning unit project west of Logan Mountain this week.

  • Legal Location: T32N/9E/Sections 16 & 21
  • Total acreage: 10 acres
  • Ignition is planned: January 26 – January 30
  • Duration of ignition: 3-5 days
  • Dration of smoke production: 3-5 days
  • Estimated direction of smoke travel: Varied depending on conditions that day.
  • Communities or Smoke Sensitive Areas: The piles are located in a remote area and should not impact any communities or smoke sensitive areas. Smoke might be visible from Hwy 44 and county road A-1.
