Lassen County’s District 3 Supervisor Jeff Hemphill and the Janesville Town Council will be hosting a steak fry and candlelight vigil this Friday evening, June 19th, at the Janesville Community Park to honor the memory of Dr. Richard Meinert – a well-liked member of the community who was killed last June at his Janesville veterinary office under mysterious circumstances.
“The purpose of the event is to keep the case in the eyes of the public,” explains Supervisor Hemphill. “Also it will become an annual fundraiser for the Janesville Town Council. The council works hand and hand with the fire safe council to do projects in the area.”
“Dr. Meinert was an asset to the Janesville and Honey Lake Valley and is missed by alot of people,” added Hemphill. “His death was tragic and we need to get the case solved. To get some closure for his family and the rest of residents in the area.”
Tickets for the steak fry are $25 for adults and $12.50 for children. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Janesville Town Council and tickets are available at Artisan Coffee, Idaho Grocery, Margie’s Book Nook and Rooptown Bicycles.
The barbecue will run from 5:00 to 8:00 at LLoyd Keefer park and a candle light vigil will begin at dusk. For more information you can contact Austin Meinert at 253-3000.
