A SusanvilleStuff Photo Feature
by Marshel Couso
It was a day filled with amazing pageantry, deep gratitude and a joyful celebration of a powerful heritage. The Susanville Indian Rancheria hosted their 4th annual Memorial Pow-wow Saturday ‘in honor of our elders and veterans for all of their sacrifices, so that we may live.’
The event grew so large last year that the Rancheria made the move to the fairgrounds, a perfect setting for the event.
The Grand Entry, a huge procession of participants in full regalia, was held in the open pavillion and Gil Calac, an Army veteran who grew up in Susanville but now lives in Yakima Washington, gave the invocation with the singing of an honor song.
