It couldn’t have been a more perfect opening day at the Lassen Land and Trust’s Farmer’s Market. Veggie and fruit lovers crowded the vendor tents to purchase the first bite of the season’s freshly grown local produce.
“We enjoy getting to know our customers and interacting with them each week,” said Rhonda Meadows, of local vendor Trails End Farm. “It is important to know where your food comes from and it’s a great opportunity to get food fresh from the farm,” she said.
Setting the tone for the season was a showcase of big juicy berries, freshly baked goodies, fresh eggs, handmade soaps, all natural meat, veggies and handcrafted jewelry.
The Farmer’s Market is set to run at Historic Susanville Railroad Depot from 8:00am to Noon and will run every Saturday through September.
“I can’t wait to get home and make homemade blackberry jam, with these freshly picked berries,” said Kelsey Cober, a Farmers Market attendee. “There just really isn’t anything better,” she said.
