It may have been born out of necessity, but the City of Susanville’s big ‘Halloween in the Park’ was a huge success with local trick-or-treaters who flocked to Memorial Park last Friday to take part in some properly-socially-distant Halloween fun.
The event was held in place of the traditional uptown Halloween celebration and featured booths set up around Frank Ernaga Ball Field where little ghosts and goblins could safely get their Halloween treats.
Lots of local businesses and organizations contributed to the city’s big party, which is the first large-scale community event to be held since COVID-19 hit in March.
“We saw probably thousands of people in our community come together for the first time in 2020,” said City Administrator Kevin Jones in an email to his staff at City Hall. “It was incredible and inspirational to watch and you were all a part of it.
