Get Ready for the Holiday Festival of Lights

All December long the Lassen County Fair will again be hosting its spectacular ‘Holiday Festival of Lights’ exhibition at the fairgrounds.

This will be the seventh year for the holiday displays, built by different local groups, organizations and individuals for the public to drive through and ‘oooooh and ahhhhhhh’ at during the season.

How popular is the event? Last year on Christmas Eve more than 130 vehicles full of holiday revelers passed through the fairgrounds to see the lights.

Each season the displays at the festival grow larger and more complex.

Mike and Kathy Justice, taking part in their 6th festival, have put together a spectacular display that is synchronized with music through a radio channel in your car. The Justices are also responsible for the major displays you see at the entrance to the fairgrounds.

Want to get involved? The fair is still looking for groups, organizations or individuals wanting to participate by putting up a display. The displays can include business advertisement, club endorsements or can just be a gorgeous holiday light display.

Major displays being readied for this year include entries from 4H, the Boy Scouts, Diamond Mountain Casino, the Lutheran Church and Teen Court. Get involved and build a display! It’s fun and great advertisement for local business or groups.

The Festival of Lights will also be part of the Kiwanis Senior and the Lassen County Times’ light tours.

If you are interested in being a part of it all please contact the Lassen County Fair office at 251-8900. You can download an application by clicking here.

Fair manager Jim Wolcott says, “It is just a great thing to do for the community and to see everyone come together and participate in.“
