This Friday, February 7th, the City of Susanville’s Public Works Department will all be dressed in red to help raise awareness about Congenital Heart Disease, where a child is born with a defect in the structure of their heart.
The Public Works Department will be wearing red for Jackson, son of fellow employee Jose Gomez who is a Streets Operator for the city.
Gomez shared his family’s story, “Jackson was born with Hypo-plastic Left Heart Syndrome, commonly known as Half a Heart. At 6 months old he received the gift of life through organ donation and was given a new heart.”
“Jackson is a very determined boy and will not let any diagnosis stop him from achieving his goals.”
To show your support for Jackson, and raise Congenital Heart Disease awareness, you are invited to “Go Red for Jackson” and to post pictures of you and your crew dressed in red to social media with the hashtag #jacksonskrew.
