Members of the Lassen Grizzly Claybreakers competed against three hundred other young shooters in the U.S. Open Youth Trap Shooting Nationals, held last week in Las Vegas, ranking highly among the teams and bringing home trophies in several individual categories.

The Championship is an annual competition that includes the disciplines of skeet, sporting clays, and trap and is an opportunity for youth shooting teams and individuals to compete at a national event with competitors from around the country.

Despite the temperature in Las Vegas hitting triple-digits by 9:00a.m., the Lassen team came to compete and represent. The first ever Lassen Grizzly Junior Intermediate Entry team brought home first place with a two-day score of 845.

Team Captain Lucas Steward brought home fifth place high individual IE score, while teammate Jake Robinson busted just a couple more targets to secure the fourth-place spot.

The Varsity team finished in fourth place with a team score of 913, just 7 targets out of 3rd place.

“Great job to both the Varsity and Junior teams, all shooters that competed did great and made Lassen proud,” says Jenny Robinson. “Huge thank you to all of the sponsors, for the team and individual shooters, parents and hard-working community members who have helped out and supported these teams along the way. We appreciate you greatly!”
