A Forest Service road to the Grizzly Forebay in Plumas County is closed for repairs but will open in time for the Fourth of July, Pacific Gas and Electric Company said.
The Grizzly Forebay Access Road, also known as U.S. Forest Service Road 24N34A, is closed at intersection with Bucks Penstock Road (24N34), which is 1.1 miles from the forebay and the forebay’s parking area and car-top boat launch point.
The closure is for 24 hours a day, seven days a week while PG&E repairs a slide and erosion at two locations within the Plumas National Forest.
Grizzly Forebay is still accessible by foot from the east by traveling along Grizzly Powerhouse Road, also known as USFS Route 24N05A, until it reaches a parking area near a locked gate. From there, it’s about a half-mile walk along the road until reaching the inflow end of the Grizzly Forebay.
Grizzly Forebay is part of PG&E’s Bucks Creek Hydroelectric Project. The road repairs are necessary to maintain safe and reliable access for the public and PG&E.
