A unoccupied room in the Budget Host Inn on Main Street in Susanville sustained heavy fire damage Thursday night according to details released by the Susanville Fire Department.
The Fire Department was dispatched to the commercial structure fire shortly before 10:00p.m. and arrived to find heavy fire coming from the front side of a single story hotel room.
“Aggressive firefighting efforts contained the fire to the single room of origin,” explains Fire Captain Robert Brown.
“Damage to the structure consisted of heavy fire damage to the main living and kitchen and moderate damage to the rest of the hotel room.”
The fire was contained to the single unoccupied unit with no damage to the other rooms.
Resources battling the fire included 6 fire apparatus and 21 firefighters with no fire fighter injuries reported.
According to Captain Brown one civilian was treated for minor burns when he attempted to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.
The cause of the fire detailed in the report was, “combustibles too close to an electric wall heater.”
Susanville Fire Department was assisted by the Susan River Fire Protection District, Cal-Fire, Susanville Police Department, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, LMUD and Susanville City Public Works.
