The California Correctional Center and High Desert State Prison have collectively donated $26,516 to Special Olympics of Northern California this year.

The money came from from various staff and inmate fundraisers held throughout the year.

Staff from both institutions participated in the Polar Plunge at South Lake Tahoe in March and a Law Enforcement Torch Run in May.

Inmates at both institutions participated in food sales throughout the year.

According to those involved, staff and inmates alike are already excited about raising money for next year and coming up with creative ideas to do so.
