High Sierra Collision – NWS Urgent Winter Weather Message

The National Weather Service has issued an Urgent Winter Weather Message warning that a quick-moving storm will produce heavy snow overnight and into the morning hours.

According to the NWS we can expect periods of moderate to heavy snow here on the valley floor. The heaviest snow should fall before 5:00a.m.

NWS Snow accumulation predictions: 3 TO 6 INCHES WEST OF HIGHWAY 395…WITH 2 TO 4 INCHES EAST OF HIGHWAY 395 INCLUDING THE SURPRISE VALLEY AND NORTHERN WASHOE COUNTY.

Visibility at times during the early morning hours is expected to be less than one-half mile.
