Hi everybody, here is a quick look at the nasty winter weather beginning to impact our region…
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 4:00p.m. on Monday.
According to the NWS advisory widespread snowfall has begun to develop here in Lassen County and will continue through Monday afternoon… with the heaviest snow expected late tonight and Monday morning.
West of Highway 395 and along and south of Highway 44 the NWS is predicting 4 to 8 inches. Elsewhere 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts possible.
It’s likely the following roads will have travel restrictions over the next 18 hours; south and west of Susanville including Highway 44; Highway 36 over Fredonyer Pass; and highways 70 and 89. Travel delays will be possible along Highway 395.
The weather service cautions that snow is expected to pose an inconvenience to travelers. Roads will become slick and hazardous… with snow and ice first developing on bridges and overpasses. Motorists should slow down… use caution… and expect travel delays.
