The holiday spirit arrived in full force at Banner Lassen Medical Center this week, but instead of stethoscopes and scrubs, the focus was on wrapping paper, ribbons and a massive outpouring of community support.
In a heartwarming display of generosity, the team at Banner Lassen Medical Center rallied together to collect and donate gifts for 45 local foster care children. The drive was organized specifically to support the Lassen Court Appointed Special Advocate program, operated through Lassen Family Services.

The scene outside the medical center was picture-perfect. Staff members gathered on the helipad, standing proudly in front of SEMSA’s medical helicopter. However, the aircraft was momentarily staged to take a backseat to the real stars of the day: a literal mountain of gifts destined to bring smiles to children who need them most.
For the staff at Banner, this initiative was about extending their care beyond the hospital walls.
“Our incredible team came together to make Christmas magical for 45 foster care children participating in the CASA program,” a representative from Banner Lassen Medical Center shared. “The spirit of the season was alive and well as our dedicated staff gathered in front of our helicopter, surrounded by a mountain of gifts to bring joy to children in need.”
The CASA program plays a vital role in Lassen County, providing advocacy and consistency for children navigating the foster care system. By partnering with Lassen Family Services, the BLMC team ensured that these children would have a brighter, more memorable Christmas morning.
The hospital emphasized that their mission goes deeper than medical treatment.
“We’re grateful to every team member who contributed to this meaningful cause. Together, we’re not just providing health care – we’re building a stronger, more caring community.”
As the gifts make their way to the children, the effort stands as a reminder of the impact a dedicated group of locals can have when they come together for a common cause.
In the spirit of the season, Banner Lassen is also hosting a community donation drive to support local families. Until December 31st, the clinic is collecting non-perishable food, blankets, and coats.
While donations are welcome and community members can drop off items Monday through Friday, between 8:00a.m. and 5:00p.m. at the clinic.
