The Susanville Police Department, the California Highway Patrol and the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office are hosting a big event in Memorial Park tonight. The law enforcement agencies are participating in National Night Out, an annual get-together that aims to make neighborhoods safer and better places to live.
Each year, on the first Tuesday in August,Ā neighborsĀ across thousands of communities, from all 50 states,Ā United States territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide participate in the National Night Out celebration.
Local organizersĀ plan onĀ filling up the park with lots of fun family-friendly stuff and inviting Lassen County residents to come down and enjoy themselves. While you are there you will get a chance to meet the nice folks who patrol our streets.
Officer Kristin Wilburn from the Susanville CHP Office said that the event is a wonderful opportunity for local officers and residents to get to know each other.
Everyone is invited to the park between 6:00 and 8:00 for local neighborhood watch displays, self-defense demonstrations, dance performances, food vendors and music. There will also be a display of Emergency Response vehicles in the park. Lots of fun stuff for the kids!
