Dancers from J and J Performing Arts competed against some of the top dance schools in Northern Nevada and California recently, bringing home big wins in their second live competition of 2021.

The Spotlight Dance Competition, held at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno on March 14th, features the region’s most talented young dancers competing across a variety genres.

“Our junior soloist Kissy Baesman took home the top overall Junior solo award, beating out over 22 dancers for this spot,” said J and J owner Jessica Wade. “The team placed in the top spot for musical theatre, large group jazz, small group lyrical and junior solo.”

Soloist Kaylee Micone, Kissy Baesman and Parker Foreman all received judged awards, with Kissy Baesman and Parker Foreman receiving top awards of ‘Diamond’ for their solos.

According to Wade the Junior routine White Flag placed first in the overall for large group jazz and Mini Soloist Emi Chandler placed 10th in the overall.

J and J Performing Arts dancers will compete in two more live competitions this year, along with a trip to the nationals.

“We have always been so appreciative of our community’s support as we take dance from our small town to the big stages of National Dance Competitions!”
