JACK LEE HELSEL MARCH 3, 1932 – JANUARY 19, 2022
After 4 score and 9 years, Jack Lee Helsel passed away on January 19th at the Lassen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Susanville, CA. Jack was a father of five sons from two marriages, foster care, and adoption. He and his wife Sandra were married for over 53 years and they moved their family to Susanville from Walnut Creek in 1976 when they purchased Cobel’ s Stationers.
As the owner of multiple businesses using the ‘Cobel’ s’ name, Jack involved himself in multiple community based organizations such as Susanville Little League (President), Elks, Oddfellows, Uptown Susanville Business District, Rotary, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Jack was born in Sacramento, CA, he received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from San Jose State University, and he became a First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps upon graduating college. His raucous laugh, bald head, colorful caps, and deep love for his family will bemissed.
Jack was preceded in death by his son, Duane; his parents, Dewey and Eula Helsel and sister Nancy Donahue. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; sons Mark Helsel (Tammie); Sean Helsel (Tonya); Kevin Wallace; and Brad Parsons as well as 12 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
